Check out my interview with Rashida B of I Heart Fame where we discuss building a passion-centric business. I strongly believe that it is possible to build one business based upon various creative passions. Rashida gives her take on this and shares her journey from cubicle chick, to superstar owner of The B Spot (she’s been in just about every major beauty publication), and now her strategic branding agency I Heart Fame.
Rashida gives three key lessons in aligning your passion with profit:
- Pay attention to your peeps. Are people constantly asking you for insight on a particular topic? Or telling you how great you are with certain work. Listen to that feedback, and see if it aligns with a passion that you can pursue for profit.
- Your uniqueness can supercharge your business and help you become a client magnet. Rashida shares how she paid attention to the power players in her industry and identified how each one had a distinct “it factor” that made people want to work with them. What is yours?
- Accountability is essential. Your friends and family may not always support your vision. Especially if it’s out of the box and breaks the mold of what they believe that you should be doing. Find people who will support, push and challenge you on your journey. Stick with those peeps.
Must read book:
The E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber.
We talk more about fears, pushing forward in unchartered territories even when you are completely new to an industry, dealing with naysayers, and so much more. You can find Rashida online at I Heart Fame and on social media everywhere at @iheartfamelive.
This was my very first interview, and I look forward to bringing you more of this series. Please ignore some of the background, tech issues – the sound quality will improve as I learn and interview more.
